There are two communities located in Lake View, the Tannehill Preserve and the portion of the city that sits in the original Million Dollar Lakes. The Tannehill Preserve features a variety of single-family home sizes and styles with access to 4 fishing lakes, walking trails and a neighborhood swimming pool.
The other Lake View neighborhood is located in an area of wooded hills with a Ski Lake large enough to accommodate boating (fishing and ski boats, personal watercraft, pontoon boats, and canoes) and a park with a beach area for swimming. Fishing is also popular on the Ski Lake as well as on several other lakes in the neighborhood.
Lake View has its own police department located at the municipal building just off Tannehill Parkway on Central Park Drive. The city is also served by the Lake View Fire District, formed over 40 years ago and which, thanks to years of hard work by committed area residents, has grown to a Class 5 fire district. There are a variety of churches to choose from in surrounding areas and the city.
Since the 1998 incorporation of the city, the beautifully designed Lake View Elementary School has been built. Currently, Tuscaloosa County also has the PARA Activity Center near the school.
Shopping and dining available nearby include Publix and Piggly Wiggly grocery stores, a variety of restaurants and retail businesses in the McCalla area located only 10-15 minutes from the city, as well as those in Hoover and Tuscaloosa, both less than a half hour drive.
Tannehill Valley Medicine is a local medical center with a variety of physicians and other medical facilities and dentists are close by in the McCalla area. UAB Medical West’s new state of the art freestanding emergency room has opened just off I-459 and operates 24/7.
The beautiful Tannehill Ironworks Historic State Park is just down the road from Lake View, famous for a variety of popular events throughout the year, especially its monthly Trade Days held March – November. The park also offers camping, hiking trails, craft shops, a country store, an Iron & Steel Museum and much more!
Down Hwy 216, approximately 15 miles from Lake View is Rocky Branch Park on the Black Warrior River. Visitors enjoy hiking, camping, swimming, fishing, boating, a covered pavilion, picnic tables and a designated grilling area.
